Well, THAT was an awful week
By Sarah | February 13, 2012
On Monday, my home got broken into. I spent my evening with the police, the crime scene unit, a broom, and my bank representative. Coincidentally, I have NOT spent any evenings since then with my laptop, television, camera, FlipCam, or sense of security!
On Tuesday, I had on-again, off-again meltdowns and my day may have included crying as a classroom management strategy. (It worked.)
On Wednesday, I vowed to start the healing process. I decorated my house (including the plywood covering our shattered glass door) with Valentine’s hearts, bought a coffee for a stranger, and threw a Valentine’s day party for my high school small group girls.
On Thursday, I regressed and wound up wallowing in gloom until 4:30 pm when a youth group member called me asking me to buy her a pregnancy test. (Then I wallowed in anxiety and despair for her life choices and gave her a Judge Judy style lecture that included the phrase “your brain is a stronger muscle than your vagina! USE IT!”)
On Friday, I worked way too long, ran about a gazillion errands, dealt with a day long headache, and made a meal for 25.
Yesterday was fun. I liked yesterday.
The photographer at the party I attended
apparently liked yesterday a little TOO much.
Today? Bad cramps that confined me to the couch for most of the day. Somehow, I’m getting this sense of a “full circle…”
Anyone else have an entertainingly awful story from last week?

Here’s a bad day story – on Tuesday I had a meeting with my boss that included him highlighting parts of e-mails I had written to him (some as far back as August) and asking me to read them aloud. He then accused me of trying to tell him how to do his job and said I’m too emotional … I personally think a persons tone is not something you can judge from an e-mail. Then on Thursday I got a facebook message from my roommate saying she will be moving out in the middle of March so I have only a month to find someone else … My week was not very great either so I definitely sympathize with you!

WHAT?!! That is horrible!!! I’m so sorry! I think you topped me!
I hope you can find some humor in it…or look for a new job or SOMETHING!

I laugh at the ridiculousness of him having me read aloud highlighted portions of e-mails – as if I’m in middle school or something and not a mature 26 year old graduate student!

Oh that is terrible! So sorry! Glad you are okay though.

Oh Sarah that is awful! I am so sorry you are dealing w/ the break in and aftermath. I don’t understand people today… really I don’t.
Hang in there. Praying this week will be once of joy, peace and FUN for you and your hubby!

Thanks! So far it’s been that, except that on Monday I randomly came down with my first-ever UTI…but apart from that it’s been good
We had a great V-Day–D made me dinner and surprised me with a dance lesson! I hope you guys had a great one too!

That’s an awful week! I’m so sorry to hear you had to deal with that! My car was broken into recently, and even just that really spooked me–there is such a feeling of violation to know someone was in your space, going through artifacts of your life. And I would imagine a home break-in is a hundred times worse. I really hope they catch whoever did that, and that this week is a respite from all of that stress!!! Hang in there.

Did they catch your car break-in person? It happened at your gym, right?

Perpetrator or burglar–I think those were the words I was looking for. Way better than “car break-in person.” Thank you, sips of my cup of coffee.

Not sure I can top your bad story of the week, but I managed seeing my former boss without too much cringing. Will be writing a blog post on that very soon.
I have to admit, yI did like your Judge Judy style line. I hope she took it to heart.
Hope you have a better week. It’s Valentine’s Week, it has to be, right?

Okay…I definitely want to hear about the boss story!!!

Oh no! That sounds like a terrible week! I hope this week is going better for you. I like the Judge Judy style lecture–sounds like it was warranted. Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

Thank you–it was great
I hope yours was too!

Sorry about the crappy week! I don’t think I can top it, except that my family’s house was broken into when I was in high school, and it definitely was one of the eeriest, spookiest experiences I’ve ever had. To this day, I’m paranoid about locking my car and my house, checking my pockets for my keys/wallet etc. I would recommend that you avoid scary movies about break-ins for a while, Panic Room and Taken were especially traumatic for me!
I hope things are looking up this week. Happy belated Valentine’s Day!

Oh my gosh. I have got a whole HOST of stories that I’ll share with you when we get to talk on the phone. Long story short? I cried for almost 4 hours Saturday, another 2 or 3 on Sunday, and walked into my boss and told him I was quitting on Monday. I took 2 showers in a 5 day work week. Two kids got restrained today. I was called a whole host of names and told (by a kid) that I deserved to eat food off the ground. INSANITY.

YOU WIN!!!!! I didn’t think anyone could top me unless their week included, like, a death and a robbery, but wow. That’s awful! Can’t wait to hear about it over the phone. When are you free?!
